I chose to specialise in family law shortly after qualifying as a solicitor and have now worked exclusively as a family solicitor for over 25 years. I am head of the family law team at Balfour+Manson. I have been accredited by the Law Society as a specialist in family law since 1999.
The time I have spent working with individuals and families has brought the benefit of experience and expertise in how best to help guide my clients through the difficult and emotional process following the breakdown of their relationship. I also work with clients at the start of their relationship who wish to enter into Pre-Cohabitation and Pre-Nuptial Agreements.
Sources say that "she is organised, concise and focused" with others describing her as "calm and unflappable."Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession and The Legal 500
There are different ways in which clients can choose to resolve both financial issues and issues in relation to children following upon relationship breakdown. I am well aware that different processes suit different clients. I am a trained mediator, collaborative practitioner and arbitrator. I am accordingly well placed to advise clients in relation to finding the best way forward for them.
I am a member of the Family Law Society’s Family Law Sub Committee, a past Chair of the Family Law Association, a founding member and former Treasurer of Consensus and I co-edit Greens Family Law Bulletin. I am therefore at the forefront of family law in Scotland and I am instrumental in driving forward new ideas and changes in the family law in Scotland.
