About Martin

I joined Balfour+Manson in August 2015 after completing the Accelerated LLB and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, I obtained an M.A. (Honours) in Economic and Social History from the University of Glasgow and was the Head of Humanities in a large international school in the United Arab Emirates before pursuing a career in law.

Specialist area

I am a solicitor in the firm’s Family Law Team although I mainly undertake regulatory work specifically acting on behalf of members of the EIS Union in referrals to the General Teaching Council for Scotland. This involves representing clients facing a broad range of disciplinary and regulatory matters, criminal prosecutions and associated referrals to Disclosure Scotland.

I have experience of appearing in the Civil Courts on behalf of Pursuer and Defender clients at Sheriff and Sheriff Appeal Court level and defending clients in criminal matters in the Justice of the Peace and Sheriff Courts.

I am a registered Notary Public.
