I qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and joined Balfour+Manson in 2018.
I studied at the University of Edinburgh and, but for a year’s detour to Australia (working for a two large legal firms and a Royal Commission), have worked in Edinburgh ever since.Initially specialising in residential property, I made the move over to private client in 2004. Immediately prior to joining Balfour+Manson I was the head of the private client team at a small family-run law firm.
Outside of work I study part time for a second degree, this time in mathematics. I try (but usually fail!) to keep myself fit by running and playing the occasional game of badminton. I also sing in a local choir.
As a Private Client solicitor I deal with a variety of issues all of which can, and in some cases certainly will, affect private individuals.I advise clients in relation to succession planning, including Inheritance Tax issues and the drafting of Wills; the granting and operation of Powers of Attorney; the administration of executry estates; and the creation and running of trusts.
