About Andrew

I joined the B+M employment team in September 2017 with experience in representing contentious and non-contentious matters for both employers and employees. In my time at B+M I have advised a number of SMEs and charities on various employment law matters and have experience advising on staff management, policies and contracts.  I take pride in presenting complex legal advice in as clear and concise a way as possible and have been described as having a sense of humour that makes clients feel at ease, something that helped me being awarded the Highly Commended award in the Rising Star of the Year category at the 2017 Scottish Legal Awards. Career highlights so far include:

  • winning a pregnancy discrimination tribunal claim

  • obtaining a large settlement against a Local Authority provider

  • successfully defending a claim on employment status

  • presenting to over 120 delegates on the pitfalls of social media

  • representing the Scottish Cricketers’ Association and

  • advising on a contract of employment with an English Premier League football club.

Outside of the office you will likely find me on some form of sports field, with a particular interest in cricket, football, rugby and golf. I also do not shy away from (or can’t say no to) a charitable challenge and have completed 2 marathons, a Kiltwalk, the 3 Peak Challenge and the 52 mile Cateran Yomp in recent years.

I have specialised in employment law since 2014. In that time I have given advice in relation to the following:

  • unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistle blowing claims 
  • TUPE transactions 
  • settlement agreements
  • contract and policy reviews 
  • provided management training to employers
  • various sports related concerns.
