I grew up in Edinburgh and studied my LLB at the University of Dundee. I was lucky enough to be able to spend my third year of university abroad at Leiden University in the Netherlands, studying a wide variety of both international and European law courses and exploring the international criminal courts and tribunals. After graduating from the University of Dundee in 2017, I spent some time travelling around Asia before going on to complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow in 2019. I moved back to Edinburgh to commence my traineeship with Balfour+Manson in August 2019.
Throughout university, I completed several work placements including legal work experience at the Scottish Child Law Centre in Edinburgh, at a criminal/family law firm in Edinburgh and at an international law firm in Lisbon.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, going to the gym, hiking and in the winter months, I try to go skiing as much as I can.
I am spending the first seat of my traineeship in the Family Law department, headed by Partner, Shona Smith. I am assisting Shona and the rest of the team in a variety of cases relating to financial provision on the breakdown of relationships and in a number of matters involving children. Working on such cases and making a real difference to people’s lives is very rewarding and I look forward to gaining further experience over the course of the next six months.
