Balfour+Manson raise over £3,700 for charity in June

Balfour+Manson is proud to announce that they have raised £1,100 for Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and £2,600 for Foundation Scotland this month.

Office Manager Christine Laurie and Marketing and Events Manager Alicia Dacre braved the dizzy heights of the Forth Rail Bridge to abseil for CHAS as part of the 125th anniversary of the bridge on Sunday 7th June. Despite the windy weather they successfully ascended (SAS style!) the 165 foot drop.

Marketing & Events Manager Alicia said “It was a great experience. The event was so well organised and we were both overwhelmed by the support with our fundraising, I wish I could say letting go at the top was as easy!”

On Saturday 13th June, a team of hardy solicitors including, Paddy Fulton, Angela McCracken, Jamie Foulis, Iain Thomson and Mark Boni took on one of Scotland’s toughest endurance challenges; the Caledonian Challenge. The challenge involves walking 54 miles of the West Highland Way in 24 hours.

The hikers set off, with around 1,000 other participants at 7am on Saturday from Gairlochy near Fort William. Despite the wet conditions and complete exhaustion the team kept pushing on and completed the gruelling course at Strathfillan in 20 hours 28 minutes, finishing 20th overall out of 125 teams.

Employment law solicitor Angela said “Up until mile 42 it was quite hard going but really good fun. From the last checkpoint until the finish it was extremely tough. The dark, torrential rain and endless track took its toll on our morale at points but we persevered. We were all exhausted, soaked and in a fair bit of pain but were delighted to have finished and raised so much money for Foundation Scotland.”
